MPH Program Overview
The University of Akron has formed a partnership with Cleveland State University, Youngstown State University, Ohio University, and Northeast Ohio Medical University to create the Consortium of Easter Ohio Masters of Public Health program, also called CEOMPH. This program is designed for those currently working in the health care field who want to enhance their skills and their career. The program combines Saturday classes on the campus and interactive videoconferencing through distance learning. It’s easy to fit into a schedule and is one of the most revolutionary MPH programs in the nation.
MPH Curriculum and Courses
Those enrolled in the program must complete a capstone project as well as several electives that will be approved by professors. There are also six course classes that are required for graduation and which make up the bulk of the MPH program. These six courses are:
• Biostatistics in Public Health
• Environmental Health Sciences in Public Health
• Public Health Concepts
• Social and Behavioral Sciences in Public Health
• Epidemiology in Public Health
• Health Services Administration in Public Health
The course totals out to 42 credit hours and is fully accredited by the CEPH.
MPH Admissions
The application process requires students to submit:
• Three letters of recommendation
• Official transcripts from each college attended
• Cover letter with essay concerning goals and history
• Recent GRE scores – those with a doctorate or master’s degree may be exempt from this requirement
• TOEFL scores for non-native English speakers
• Fully completed application forms
MPH Tuition and Financial Aid
The overall cost of the MPH program is charged on a per-credit basis that runs around 438 dollars per credit for Ohio residents and 727.00 for nonresidents.
