MPH Program Overview

The MPH Program offered by Jackson State University is made up of education from four different departments:

• Communicative Disorders
• Health Policy and Management
• Behavioral and Environmental Health
• Epidemiology and Biostatistics

Each of these departments focuses on different specific areas of the field and will provide all the skills needed to analyze and implement public health policies in the private and public sectors. The program also actually offers specialized MPH degrees in each of these fields, so that your education will lead you in exactly the direction you want it to take you for your career. This program is campus based and involves internships as well.

MPH Curriculum and Courses

As mentioned above, each area of specialization will focus on unique courses. There are numerous core classes that each of the programs will share between them and in most cases elective courses will be chosen as well. An internship is also a part of the program. In short, each concentration area will give you different classes. Some examples of the classes include:

MPH Admissions

Those attempting to enroll in this program must have three letters of reference, a bachelor’s degree or higher with a 3.0 GPA, and a personal statement of professional goals. These are the main criteria considered during the application process.
