MPH Program Overview

East Tennessee University actually offers two MPH programs – an online option and a campus based one. The main difference between the two is that while there are five areas of concentration one can select from when taking campus based courses, the online program only offers two choices. Either way, the program provides a solid understanding of all the skills needed to enter the public health field through public or private job opportunities. Analyzation, research, design, and implementation of public health policies is a key aspect of the job and those who graduate will often work to help overcome a wide range of health issues that confront the human population.

MPH Curriculum and Courses

As mentioned above, the specialization areas are the key difference in the online or campus based programs, and which concentration you select will impact the types of classes that you take. The campus based program features the following five areas of concentration:

• Epidemiology
• Environmental Health
• Community Health
• Health Services Administration
• Biostatistics

The Online program offers the following two concentration areas:

• Epidemiology

Whichever path you choose, you’ll enroll in several core curriculum classes and then take courses that focus mainly on the concentration area that you’ve chosen for yourself.

MPH Admissions

There are several admissions criteria involved in acceptance to either of these MPH programs.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college
