MPH Program Overview

The MPH Program offered by East Stroudsburg University is designed to allow students to earn a full foundation of skills needed to excel in the public health field.  Those who graduate from the program will be eligible to take the Certified in Public Health exam as well as the Certified Health Education Specialist exam.  Careers in the public and private sector are possible and the program is fully accredited.  Substance abuse, teen pregnancy, environmental health risks, international health, cancer awareness, and many other subjects could be the focus of those who graduate from this program and they will become key players in the public health system at almost any level.

MPH Curriculum and Courses

A number of different classes make up the curriculum in the MPH program.  Some of the classes you’ll be required to take include the following:

  • Skills for Applied Community Health Practice
  • Public Health
  • Community Health Practice for Health Educators
  • Computer Applications in Health Education
  • Health Ethics, Policy, and Law
  • Epidemiology
  • Scientific Foundations of Health Behavior
  • The Physical Environment and Community Health
  • Public Health Measurement Sciences

Many other classes will make up the program as well, and those specializing in certain areas will have more specific classes to enroll in.

MPH Admissions

Applicants must turn in all of the required materials, which include:

  • Resume
  • Exam Scores
  • Official Transcripts
  • Application
  • Statement of professional goals
  • Letters of recommendations

Students will also have to pay a fifty dollar application fee and meet other requirements including their latest GRE score.

MPH Tuition and Financial Aid

Pennsylvania residents will pay around 268 dollars per credit hour, while nonresidents of the state can expect to pay 670 dollars for each credit they earn.  Full time tuition for a semester is around three thousand for residents and eight thousand dollars for nonresidents, plus other fees.  Loans, scholarships, and grants are all available and financial aid is easy to apply for at East Stroudsburg University.
