MPH Program Overview

MPH Curriculum and Courses

Topics covered in the MPH program at Argosy including the following.

  • Prevention – This area focuses on assessing the risks of a community and developing a protocol that will help target those risks and increase public awareness and public health overall.
  • Public Health Informatics –focuses on the different concepts and methods required to enter the public health informatics field and gain employment there.
  • Epidemiology –focuses on training you to understand the patterns, causes, and effects of health and disease conditions in defined populations.
  • Core Curriculum – The core classes at Argosy will include such courses as biostatistics, health and environment, informatics, the health care system, and more.

The Argosy University MPH program offers a supportive learning environment with small class sizes and practitioner-based faculty.  The program prepares students for careers as practitioners who may work in a variety of settings including health departments, managed care organizations, community-based organizations, hospitals, consulting firms, international agencies, local, state and federal agencies, among others.  MPH graduates can work as health educators, healthcare administrators, health policy analysts, public health practitioners in federal, state and local health agencies, and research associates.

MPH Admissions

To enter the MPH field here it is suggested that you have at least three years of on the job experience and you’ll need to show a 2.7 or higher GPA during your previous courses. You may still be admitted with a GPA lower that 2.7, but could be required to provide a goal statement and three letters of reference.
