Tulane University

Located in New Orleans Louisiana, Tulane University’s School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine is the United States oldest school of Public health and the only school of tropical medicine in the country. LSU Health New Orleans School of Public Health

With challenges such as global climate change, pandemics, bioterrorism and the fractured state of the current health care system, LSU HSC, located in New Orleans offers a Masters of Public Health degree in Behavioral and Community Health Sciences, Biostatistics, Health Policy and Systems Management, epidemiology, and Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences. In addition to offering a Masters degree in these five programs, the school also offers PhD’s in three of them. All the school provides graduates with the education they need to enter the workforce as public health professionals; a special focus is placed on the issues that affect Louisiana in particular. This is an important difference in some of the other Masters of Public Health programs available since the very nature of the state of Louisiana makes it unique among its neighbors and the country at large. With a student to faculty ratio of one a half to one and a graduation rate exceeding 90%, LSU HSC has been turning out some of the most highly educated professionals in public health since 2003. The school also features research faculty that has been both nationally and internationally recognized and some of the lowest tuition in the Golf South.

LSU Shreveport

Located in beautiful Shreveport Louisiana, LSU Shreveport offers qualified individuals the opportunity to earn a Master of Public Health Degree which has been specifically designed to prepare graduates for lifelong careers in public health. Earning a degree requires a student to complete 515 credit hour courses which focus specifically on the core knowledge that a public health professional needs and an additional 21 credit hours in a related public health courses. An additional 200 hours of practicum experience and a project or thesis will also be necessary.
