MPH Program Overview
The MPH Program from the Texas A&M Health Science Center is a campus based program that is fully accredited and nationally recognized. It’s also unique in that it’s one of the few in the country that focus on rural public health studies in addition to standard public health concerns. Students can choose from several different specialization areas and will learn to master the public health field and learn from a rural standpoint as well.
MPH Curriculum and Courses
The MPH program provides an in-depth look at all the skills and abilities needed to enter the public health field. The core curriculum and the subsequent elective specialty courses are all drawn from the main academic departments that make up the school. These departments include:
• Health Promotion and Community Health Sciences
• Epidemiology and Biostatistics
• Environmental and Occupational Health
• Health Policy and Management
These are also the core subjects of public health, and each one is focused on with a special look at the rural perspective.
MPH Admissions
Admission into the MPH program at Texas A&M Health Science Center includes a number of different criteria. Students will have to meet these requirements and submit several documents to the admissions board including:
• Transcripts showing 3.0 GPA during undergraduate studies and possession of a bachelor’s or higher degree
• Transcripts of all grad level studies as well
• GRE Scores from within the last five years
• TEOFL scores if students aren’t native English speakers
• Letters of recommendation
• Statement of personal intent
There may also be additional admissions requirements depending upon various factors.
MPH Tuition and Financial Aid
Scholarships, assistantships, and other forms of financial aid including grants and loans are available through the school. The total estimated cost of the program is 24,025 dollars for Texas residents and 30,225 dollars for nonresidents.
