MPH Program Overview
The MPH program from the Ohio State University College of Public Health is a 45-48 credit hour program that is made up of core classes, classes based on specialization choice, a practicum, and a culminating capstone project. Full time students finish within 1.5-2 years while part time students generally finish their education within three years. It is a campus based program designed to help provide all of the skills and abilities that a student needs to move their career forward into the future.
MPH Curriculum and Courses
The MPH program is made up of several core classes which include:
• Introduction to Health Care Organization
• Principles of Epidemiology
• Preventing Disease and Promoting Health Through Behavioral Science
• Principles of Environmental Health
• Design and Analysis of Studies in the Health Sciences I
After these courses are completed students will choose a specialization from one of seven different areas that will come with a number of different classes related to the specialization in question. These areas of concentration are:
• Veterinary Public Health
• Biostatistics
• Clinical Translational Science
• Epidemiology
• Health Services Management and Policy
• Health Behavior and Health Promotion
• Environmental Health Sciences
MPH Admissions
Admission to the program is based on a number of criteria that students must meet in order to be considered. These requirements include:
• GPA of 3.0
• Bachelor’s or higher degree
• Letters of recommendation
• Statement of intent
• GRE Scores no older than five years
• All transcripts of any college activity
