MPH Program Overview
The MPH program here is designed to provide an in depth understanding of all the various public health disciplines. Data analysis is a primary feature of the program since a large part of the job involves studying the various social, environmental, and public factors that influence the population as a whole. Data analysis and development of public health policies and programs are the main duties of graduates from this program. It’s a campus based program that features an internship requirement as well as the core curriculum.
MPH Curriculum and Courses
Those enrolling in the MPH program from the University of Alabama at Birmingham will be able to select from several different specialties within the field. The core curriculum is a 19-22 credit hour program that includes the following classes:
• Introduction to Public Health
• Public Health Integrative Experience
• Fundamentals of Environmental Health Sciences
• Biostatistics for Public Health
• Introduction to Epidemiology
Following these programs, several different specialization areas can be chosen and the student will earn additional credits based on their concentration area. Students will also have to complete an internship as well.
MPH Admissions
There are several minimum requirements for admission into this MPH program. They include the following:
• Bachelor’s or higher degree from an accredited university or college
• GPA of 3.0 during undergraduate studies
• Transcripts submitted in full
• GRE Scores of 146 on Verbal and 146 on Quantitative
• TOEFL score of 550 PBT, 213 CBT, and 79 IBT for non-native English speakers.
MPH Tuition and Financial Aid
The per term cost of full time students is 3,309 dollars for residents and around 7,500 dollars for nonresidents. Credit hours are charged at 541 for the first credit hour and 346 for subsequent ones for residents, 1,007 for the first hour and 812 dollars for subsequent ones for nonresidents. There are numerous financial aid options available including things like scholarships, reimbursement plans, grants, and other programs.
