MPH Program Overview
This program is designed to prepare students for work in state or local health departments, hospitals, schools, overseas positions, and more. The focus is on the use of research to identify various public health issues and the use of that data to develop new programs and protocols that will help lead to an increase in the health of the general population. There are numerous areas of study involved in this campus based program, which also requires an internship experience in order to qualify for graduation.
MPH Curriculum and Courses
The curriculum within the MPH program relies on the selection of one of six different concentration areas. While each of these subjects will share various core classes, they will also feature specific classes that focus on the specialization itself. Concentration areas include:
• Epidemiology
• Environmental Health
• Biostatistics
• Health Policy and Management
• Biomedical Sciences
• Social Behavior and Community Health
As mentioned earlier, the course also requires students to complete a hands-on internship program that will help them gain the real world experience needed to thrive in their careers.
MPH Admissions
Admissions are straightforward and require students to complete a basic application and then submit:
• GRE scores
• Three references
• Personal Statement about overall career and academic goals
• Full Resume or CV
• Undergraduate Transcripts
• TOEFL Score for international students
Obviously higher GRE and GPA scores are preferred by the admissions body, but the school accepts a diverse pool of students into the program each year.
MPH Tuition and Financial Aid
Overall tuition costs for residents of New York State are 2,785 dollars and 7,360 dollars for nonresidents. This doesn’t include a wide range of fees and charges that may be assessed. There are numerous loans, grants, and scholarships available to prospective students, and those currently employed should consider looking into any possible tuition aid that their employers may offer as well as those provided by the government or by the school itself.
