MPH Program Overview
The Creighton University MPH program is focused on preparing students to tackle the many questions and issues that exist within the public health spectrum. From smoking to obesity, teen pregnancy to environmental health concerns, there are plenty of different things that this program will prepare an individual for. A portion of the program may need to be completed in person, but most is available entirely online. The main principles covered include ethics, epidemiology, biostatistics, and more and graduates can work to provide analyzation and implementation of health programs in workplaces as well as in communities around the nation. Most graduates enter the field in supervisory positions but many other possibilities exist.
MPH Curriculum and Courses
The core curriculum of the MPH program at Creighton University consists of twenty seven credit hours in courses including:
• Community Health Assessment
• Organization and Management of Public Health Services
• Public Health Ethics
• Epidemiology
• Social and Behavioral Aspects of Public Health
• Health Communication and Informatics
• Biostatistics
• Introduction to Community Based Participatory Research
In addition, there are several different concentrations that you will be able to enroll in. Each one will focus your skills in a particular area of public health and a total of nine credit hours will be earned in the field of your choice. Concentration areas include:
• Health Policy and Ethics
• Public Health Services Administration
You’ll also have to complete four credit hours of practice experience and complete the Capstone Project.
MPH Admissions
A few things will need to be submitted by the applicant in order to be considered for admission into the program. These include:
• An essay detailing your accomplishments and how the program will benefit you
• Three recommendation forms
• A curriculum Vitae
• Proof of a Bachelor’s or higher degree and a 3.0 GPA
• A GRE
• A Transcript
MPH Tuition and Financial Aid
Most tuition fees are based on a per-credit hour rate that is around one thousand dollars per credit, although the specific total may vary. Financial Aid is available in most cases.
