MPH Program Overview

The MPH program from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville has been offered by the school for more than forty years. It’s fully accredited, campus based, and offers a variety of concentration areas that students can select from. In addition to the classwork students will complete a field internship and an essay that displays their mastery of the subject matter. Dual degree options are also available, and those enrolling in the program will be able to enroll in a variety of different electives to help focus their abilities on the areas they are interested in.

MPH Curriculum and Courses

Several courses make up the foundation of the MPH program. These include:

• Environmental and Occupational Health
• Health and Society
• Biostatistics
• Principles of Epidemiology
• Public Health Policy and Administration
• Fundamentals of Program Evaluation

Students will complete these programs and then choose concentration areas including:

• Veterinary Public Health
• Health Planning and Administration
• Community Health Education

The specific electives taken will depend largely upon the area of study that students want to enroll in.

MPH Admissions

Admissions require a variety of different documents and criteria. Some of the things that will need to be submitted include:

• Completed application
• GRE scores from within the last five
• Transcripts from all college studies
• GPA of 3.0 or better
• Bachelor’s or higher degree
• Letter of personal intent
• Letters of recommendation

There may also be additional requirements that are based upon the specific type of program one wishes to enroll in. Dual degrees involving the MPH program are good examples of areas that may require a variety of other criteria be met.

MPH Tuition and Financial Aid

A variety of different costs, fees, and tuition charges will be applied to students of the MPH program. The specific costs will vary depending upon circumstances.
